ARGENTIUM SILVER SINGLE STONE OR PEARL RING with Elizabeth Hunt – Sunday 3rd November 2024 – 10.00am

60-minute workshop – cost £31.00

Participants will leave with a unique ring hand-crafted in Argentium silver with either a semi-precious stone or pearl. They will learn to size, shape and fuse these beautiful rings and then have them individually polished before either setting or gluing in a stone or pearl.

Minimum tools will be used to create these one-off designs, but all will achieve a professional finish.

Argentium is fun and fast to work with, making it a wonderful silver to introduce students to jewellery making.

Advisory Note:

All ages over 14 years with normal eyesight and dexterity (14 to 16 years with adult supervision only).

Participants will leave with a unique pair of tassel earrings ideal for the party season! They will learn to fuse, make silver tassels and join components – these earrings can also be made using beads so are a great piece to learn.

Minimum tools will be used to create these one-off designs, but all will achieve a professional finish.

MACRAME CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS COURSE

During this fabulous half-day macramé workshop you will learn all the basic macramé knots and how to combine them to create a variety of festive Christmas decorations. The designs will include: Christmas candy canes, a frosty snowflake, a winter angel and Christmas tree designs.

Under Ceri’s guidance you will cover:

 How to create a number of macramé knots and techniques on how to knot them uniformly.
 Knots include: larks head knot, half square knot, square knot, crown knot, wrapping knot, single half hitch knot and double half hitch knot.
 Combining knots together in different ways to create multiple designs.
 Attaching new rope midway through a design.
 How to secure and complete projects, including finishing tassels.

Tickets to this half-day Academy workshop include:

• All materials required including: cotton cord, wooden rings, craft wire and beads
• Tools for cutting and brushing out tassels will be provided for use during the workshop.
• A step-by-step demonstration on how to complete the knots required for each specific macramé Christmas decoration.
• Written pattern to take away, with steps and visual guidance for each design.
• Morning refreshments with luxury biscuits.
• A complimentary ticket to visit the main show on Saturday afternoon.

UK based artist in St Albans, Ceri the founder of Crafted by Ceri, designs, creates and teaches the art of hand knotting through private lessons, workshops and YouTube Channel. Passionate about sharing her therapeutic craft hobby with others, Ceri shares how basic macramé knots can be used to create new and inspiring art that relaxes the mind.

Are you a beginner looking to get into cake decorating? Join Kerry in these taster two hour workshops where you can learn how to decorate cupcakes using edible modelling paste

Students will take home 6 decorated edible cupcakes.

Advisory Note:

This workshop is suitable for adults and sensible children over 12 years, but they must be accompanied by an adult who takes responsibility for them. 

Please note this workshop is organised as part of Cake/Bake International, however the show is not open until Friday 1st – Sunday 3rd November.

Craft Academy Full Day Workshop – TERRAZZO HOME DECOR with Laura Pack, dottie + olive – Wednesday 30th October 2024 – 09.30am

09.30 – 4.30pm

Join Laura founder and artist from dottie and olive, and learn the creative art of terrazzo.

Terrazzo is the exciting ‘must do’ workshop of the moment, being colourful and above all fun, it’s the kind of workshop where people keep coming back to learn more… It really is addictive.

You will start the morning by making your own beautiful oval tray and then after lunch, a festive Christmas tree ornament.

Throughout the day, under Laura’s guidance you will:

  • Learn how to measure and mix Jesmonite
  • Create terrazzo chips in your own chosen colours
  • Mix and cast an oval tray and a Christmas tree
  • Wet sand to reveal the gorgeous terrazzo design

Your creations will be ready to take home the same day, alongside an aftercare goody bag complete with concrete wax and bamboo cloth for sealing your makes the next day, plus cork feet to pop underneath your tray and full care instructions.

Full day Academy workshop tickets also include:

  • Lunch and refreshments throughout day.
  • All materials and equipment required.
  • Complementary ticket to visit the main show on another day.

Laura Pack is the founder and artist at dottie + olive, she says, “Thanks for thinking of coming to join me and have the best time making Terrazzo Decor. I am passionate about all things interiors, choir, gym, plants and wine. Alongside my hobbies I am a busy mum of three and have been running my business for three years.


In that time, I have stocked with Joules, enjoyed pop-up shops in John Lewis as well as stocking my products in lovely independent shops across England. And my most favourite part of my job is hosting workshops and getting to spend time with like-minded people whilst having fun and being super creative.”

VIP: LAYERED PAPERCUT BAUBLE with Abie Arnold, Hive of Craftivity – Friday 1st November & Sunday 3rd November 2024

Abie from Hive of Craftivity will teach you how to make an eye-catching papercut layered Christmas decoration. You will explore papercutting in a totally new and exciting way using the revolutionary Gyro-Cut® Pro tool to create a 3D hanging decoration.
