During this workshop you will be introduced to the addictive art of free motion embroidery – drawing with a sewing machine.

You will learn a variety of patterns, which can be used for adding texture and detail to embroidery or quilting. You will also learn how to create small images of leaves and flowers and finish with a stitched portrait. Hints and tips on threads, fabrics, needles and more will be shared at the workshop.

Her recent work involves the use of a variety of fabrics, which are stitched, manipulated, painted and printed. This workshop begins by sewing with dark thread just as Sarah does when stitching her embroideries. Colour can be included in your creation by your choice of cloth, by adding coloured thread later or by including a brightly coloured zip and zip-tab… depending on what you choose to make.

Please note if you decide to create a textile art piece, then the frame is not provided in the cost of this class.
