Nothing brings a feeling of happiness quite like a huge bowl of flowers from someone you love. Join John in this class to ensure that you have a beautiful flower quilt that you will enjoy for years.
During this workshop session you should leave the class with your vase quilt well underway and hopefully with the quilt top completed.
Additional pre-workshop Zoom:
There is an additional 60-minute Zoom session with John, before the workshop session to ensure that you are fully prepared and to cover any queries that may have about the class. This is not essential, but you will get the most out of the class if you are able to do so.
The Zoom takes place ideally two weeks ahead of the class, so you have time to prepare your own flowers. Having run this class multiple times John has learnt the fabric choice for the flowers is incredibly personal so he always suggests people purchase their own flower fabric.
On the Zoom John will explain how to cut your flowers out in a way that is simple and easy, versus how you think it should be done. Guide you on the best borders to consider, choosing the background for the project, the table colour and the best choices for the vase design.
A kit for the workshop, which includes four single packs of Bondaweb for you to attach to your own floral fabrics, plus a pattern for the background of the flower vase, will be sent on to you ahead of time and hopefully in time for the Zoom session.
Under John’s guidance you will:
● Receive step-by-step guidance on laying your flowers out
● Tips on how to check the contrast and values of the flowers how you have placed them
● Tips on stitching down the flowers on your vase quilt
● A Zoom after the fact as a show and tell two weeks after the class to answer any questions and do a show and tell of your work.
● Suggestions on how to create a flower vase quilt for every season in the year
