MOSAIC SPRING WREATH with Sara Melville
Join Sara in this fabulous mosaic workshop and create a beautiful spring wreath decoration.
During the class you will learn how to:
• Use glass nippers to cut and shape vitreous glass and patte de verre mosaic tiles to make your own tesserae.
• Design your mosaic considering borders, motifs and background.
• Transfer a template design or your own design on to a wreath substrate.
• Glue your tesserae to your base – with the least amount of mess!
• Mix grout and finish off your pieces at home (instructions will be provided along will powdered grout for use at home).
The finished wreath size is approximately 15cm in diameter.
Advisory Note:
This workshop involves the use of hand tools.
Whilst suitable for beginners this might suit those that have some previous mosaic experience.
This workshop is for adults over 16 years only.
Meet the Tutor
Sara Melville
Sara is a contemporary mosaicist inspired by landscape, geology and music.
She began mosaics as a hobby in 1996 and since then has trained and attended many courses in all aspects of mosaics. She is regularly employed to run sessions and workshops in hospitals, gardens and other therapeutic settings.
From her studio in Whiteinch Glasgow she runs bespoke workshops and is part a new art collective. Since 2019 she has shown her work in various exhibitions and has recently been awarded commissions for street art in Glasgow.
